- Notre Dame Population Analytics Postdoctoral Fellowship
Description
The FFCWS@ND Postdoctoral Fellowship, under the leadership of Dr. Anna R. Haskins (Sociology), and with the support of Notre Dame Population Analytics, invites highly motivated applicants with strong quantitative skills and documented experience working with the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study (FFCWS) to apply. We seek enthusiastic researchers with broad interests in children and families, poverty, intergenerational mobility, or the transition to young adulthood. The position is open to scholars with backgrounds in the social sciences, formal demography, social work, education, statistics, or related fields. The fellowship will support both independent and collaborative research, and therefore, the candidate must be motivated to work with faculty on complex projects. Alongside Notre Dame faculty, candidates will leverage the FFCWS data to ask and answer critical poverty-related questions that drive policy change, generate real-world solutions, and advance knowledge.
Dr. Haskins will work with Notre Dame Population Analytics to identify primary faculty mentors and research projects. Candidates will contribute to the data analysis and co-authorship of research projects stemming from collaborations with paired faculty. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to develop their own research, engage with the larger FFCWS community, participate in workshops, and present at national conferences.
The following will be expected as part of the fellowship:
- be in residence at Notre Dame
- participate in the intellectual community of Notre Dame Population Analytics and all FFCWS@ND programming
- collaborate with and work on faculty projects using the FFCWS (50% of time)
- further their own intellectual development and research projects (50% of time)
Appointments are for one year, with the potential for renewal for a second year (pending performance review). The position is scheduled to begin July 1, 2026 and is based in the College of Arts & Letters at the University of Notre Dame. Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and need to have completed all requirements for the doctorate by the time of the initial appointment, with preference given to candidates that have obtained their PhD within the last two years. The salary for this position is $70,000, which includes a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and access to university resources. Two postdoctoral fellows will be selected.
To apply, submit the following materials to Interfolio:
- a cover letter describing areas of interest, graduate training, relevant background and strength of fit for the postdoctoral fellowship
- current CV
- names, e-mails and phone numbers of three references
Complete applications are due by January 23, 2026, with decisions made in mid-February 2026.
